At the Midwest Endoscopy Center, we provide comprehensive medical and surgical treatments (e.g. endoscopy, colonoscopy, heartburn treatment, GERD treatment, IBD treatment, colon cancer treatment, colitis treatment and more) for patients who suffer from digestive system disorders or diseases throughout DuPage County Illinois.
Standards of Quality
Recognized by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy for promoting quality in endoscopy and the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
Infection Control:
Suburban Gastroenterology and Midwest Endoscopy Center follow all guidelines set forth by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding disinfection, sterilization and infection control. We regularly conduct infection control checks in areas where endoscopes are reprocessed to ensure policy compliance.
Adenoma Detection:
When it comes to screening colonoscopies, quality is measured by adenoma detection rates (ADRs). Adenomas are colon polyps which have the potential to develop into cancer if left within the colon. For each 1% increase in ADR, there is a 3% decrease in Colorectal Cancer and a 5% decrease in Colorectal Cancer mortality. Therefore, it is very important adenomas are properly detected and removed during screening colonoscopies. When selecting a gastroenterologist, it’s important to note their ADRs.
We submit all data to the GIQuIC Registry. The detection goal set forth by the GIQuIC Registry in normal healthy patients age 50 and over undergoing a screening colonoscopy with a finding of at least one adenomatous polyp is:
≥ 30% Male
≥ 20% Female
≥ 25% combined Male/Female
The physicians here at Suburban Gastroenterology have a combined ADR of:
54.4% Male
61.2% Female
48.1% combined Male/Female
